A medium-up blues riff with that classic hard-bop snap. This one is quite simple; the riff stays the same each time and doesn’t change with the chords. On the repeat of the out head, the last phrase is played two more times in a descending sequence, ending an octave lower than the first time. The recording starts with a chorus of walking bass and drums before the head.

This was the second of Kenny Dorham’s four Riverside albums. Drummer Wilbert Granville T. Hogan also played on some of the third, “This Is The Moment,” in 1958.
You won't find anything from the K.D. album "This Is The Moment" on jazzleadsheets.com because Kenny has no original songs on the album. However, it's an important album to be aware of because it's really Kenny's vocal album. Kenny sings on every track and plays some great trumpet solos as well. Don Sickler: "Years ago, Curtis Fuller, who also solos on the album, was the first to tell me about Kenny's 'vocal album' and also that this was pianist Cedar Walton's first recorded album."
