This is our first song available in a Minus You duo format with only piano accompaniment. Ray Bryant’s playing on this track is sensitive and personal in his unique style. Our Minus You parts have detailed chord symbols and show important piano rhythms. They also include the flugelhorn fills at the end of the coda; instrumentalists playing with the minus melody track can play these or their own fills. Click on the Minus You tab for details.
Ray Bryant’s original piano track for Lost In You was taken from an unissued duo recording of Angel Eyes with a vocalist. Several years later, jazzleadsheets.com’s Don Sickler overdubbed flugelhorn in place of the vocal track, with his own melody, for his "Further Explorations" series. Much of this melody was inspired by Ray’s accompaniment.
CLIP The entire form of the Minus You track, a chorus and a half long, is written out in our parts:
-- solo B
-- out melody C
The melody instrumentalist also has the option of soloing on the second A or C of the in head if they want more space for improvisation.
