Git-Go Blues is a classic hard-bop blues with a little bit of everything—a clear bebop influence, a good amount of soul and lots of heavy syncopation in the two-chorus melody. On the recording, the melody is played in octaves by the two horns. A question-and-answer interlude section starts off the first chorus of each soloist and splits up the two horns (the tenor sax answers the trumpet). Both parts are indicated in each lead sheet.
If you want to play this with just a quartet, the rhythm section can cover all the answering phrases.

"Peckin' Time" was recorded at Rudy Van Gelder's legendary Hackensack Studio.
"Peckin' Time" was the last Blue Note album under Hank Mobley's leadership in the '50s. It was also the only studio album he led in 1958, though in 1957 he recorded as a leader for Blue Note six times, in January, March, April, June, August and October! All but two of those albums contain a medium-tempo blues; Git-Go Blues is the equivalent on "Peckin' Time."
