Don Sickler: "To celebrate Walter's birthday, we're putting up lead sheets for his composition Mr. A.T. Revisited. I always felt this was a great educational song, and for years I've been accumulating educational material I've developed for my students. I'm determined to now get to work on finalizing the etudes and exercises I've created and put them up on jazzleadsheets, along with Minus You recordings we've created. Walter wrote this composition for his good friend and fellow drummer Arthur Taylor (affectionately known as A.T.)"
Mr. A.T. Revisited is a bright medium-up swinger with a classic hard-bop sound. The melody develops a catchy riff on a descending series of minor 9th chords, resolving to E♭ major at the end of the second A section. The bridge melody repeats another riff over ascending II-V7s.

Don Sickler: "Looking in Walter's file folder here at Second Floor Music, the first thing I find written down, is that I played with Walter on a gig with tenor saxophonist Bob Kindred's quintet (with pianist Larry Willis and bassist Frank Tate). I guess that maybe came before my many lengthy discussions with Art Taylor about Walter. A.T. felt Walter was a tremendous talent! You can read more about Walter in our Historical Notes for his composition Ittapnna."
"Wailin' At The Vanguard" was Art Taylor's second-to-last recording, and his last as a leader. Check out Jimmy Smith's version of Gene Ammons' The One Before This for a track from Art's final recording in 1995. Mr. A.T. Revisited is the sequel to another closely related Walter Bolden song, Mr. A.T. which was the title track of Art's 1991 Enja album; this recording features almost the same lineup as "Wailin' At The Vanguard" but with Marc Cary on piano.
