Davis' final album as a leader and penultimate recording session, he's featured here in fine form alongside the young yet seasoned rhythm section of Santi Debriano and Ralph Peterson. While Davis reminds of his place in the bebop pantheon with his masterful renditions of a handful of standards (Davis first recorded Just One Of Those Things in 1953 with Max Roach and Hank Mobley), his original compositions shine through the brightest with their beautiful and idiosyncratic gestures, especially 400 Years Ago, Tomorrow and the title track Scorpio Rising.
